The Minister at the Office of Public Works is to visit Lough Funshinagh in south Roscommon today.
Patrick O' Donovan is to inspect construction on an overflow pipe at the former turlough which began this week.
Last month the OPW approved a request by Roscommon Chief Executive to provide an emergency solution to extensive flooding which has severely impacted on houses and farmland in the area since 2016.
The OPW is providing resources for the the pipe which will extend from the almost 3kms extending on the southern side of the lake near Lisfelim to Lough Cup and then linking in with the river flowing into the Shannon near Kiltoom.
The project is expected to cost approximately 1.3 million euro.
Minister O' Donovan will visit the area at lunchtime today.
