An outgoing Roscommon Councillor is calling on those contesting June's local elections to avoid using candidate posters.
Independent Councillor in Roscommon, Kathleen Shanagher, says the posters can have a detrimental effect on the efforts of local tidy towns committees.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show today, Councillor Shanagher says Roscommon's popular tidy towns group is working hard in the town to ensure the next round of judging goes well.
The outgoing councillor says they are putting a significant focus on May to have the town well kept for the anti litter competition.
Local election candidate in Carrick On Shannon, Sharon Garland, has confirmed that while she will use posters, they will be carefully located.
