Incidents of assault, intimidation and harassment were just some of the complaints made to Irish Rail regarding anti-social behaviour on two local rail routes last year.
The Dublin to Sligo and Galway to Dublin routes both heavily serve the Shannonside FM region with hundreds using the services daily.
According to a Freedom of Information request granted to Shannonside FM news, over 100 complaints of anti social behaviour were made to Iarnród Eireann locally in 2022.
Over half of those complaints were regarding disruptive behaviour, including noisy passengers or those playing loud music.
The transport provider received 21 emails or web messages about people on board openly smoking, drinking or taking drugs on the service.
Passengers also reported 15 incidents of intimidation by other train users, six cases of harassment and 4 alleged assaults over the 12 months.
The messages regarding anti social behaviour were part of over 1,600 complaints received by Irish Rail last year.
They included issues with seat reservations, over crowded trains and website errors.
