Over 100 people are being treated for Covid 19 at hospitals in the Shannonside northern Sound region today.
According to latest HSE figure, 19 people with Covid were being treated at Mullingar hospital as of 8pm last night.
16 patients with the virus were receiving medical care at Sligo University Hospital, and 14 at Cavan University Hospital
The figures come as management at the Regional Hospital in Mullingar are reporting their Emergency Department is extremely busy.
A statement today claims the hospital is in escalation and the teams are working to manage the current In-Patient and Covid-19 Bed Capacity together with Scheduled Care.
The public is being asked to consider their options before attending the Emergency Department and are being warned that if someone is not triaged as seriously ill, you may need to wait for a long period to be seen.
