Over eleven hundred people are waiting for a driving test in the Shannonside region.
Local learner drivers in this region who apply for a test will wait almost seven weeks before they are called.
These new figures have been released by the Road Safety Authority under the Freedom of Information Act.
As of the end of March this year, Athlone had the highest number of people scheduled to sit a driving test locally with 146 learner drivers called for their test.
A further 170 drivers with L-plates were waiting to be called for their test.
The next highest test centre in this region is in Roscommon - where 130 people have tests scheduled with a further 168 people waiting to be called.
112 learner drivers will be sitting their tests in the coming weeks in Longford - with a further 214 people waiting to be called.
Carrick-on-Shannon has the lowest number of people called for a test with just 51 people scheduled for a test - but 182 people still waiting.
People who apply for a test today in Roscommon, Longford or Carrick-on-Shannon will wait on average 7 weeks to be called for their test - with Athlone's timeline six weeks from application to invitation to test.
