Over 120 incidents were logged on the M6 and N6 between Athlone and Ballinasloe between January and September of this year
The figures were provided following a freedom of information request by Shannonside FM.
The logs were collected by Colas Roadbridge JV and N6 Concession limited and provided to Transport Infrastructure Ireland.
According to the release, over 120 incidents were recorded between Junctions 8 and 15 of the M6/N6 between January and mid-September this year.
Of these incidents, the majority were ranked as Category 1 or Low Priority which involve spillages or debris on the road.
15 incidents on the stretch between Athlone and Ballinasloe were categorised as high priority involving accidents, vehicles on fire, or obstructions.
One Major incident was recorded between Junction 13 and 14 this year, where the westbound stretch of the motorway was forced to close following a collision.
The records also show that most of these events occured in dry conditions with just one happening in icy conditions.
In total, 124 incidents were logged on the M6/N6 between Athlone and Ballinasloe during the time period
