The Criminal Assets Bureau is working with 21 profiles of gangs operating in the Sligo-Leitrim area.
New Leitrim Garda Superintendent Chris Grogan has addressed his first meeting of the county's Joint policing Committee since being appointed last December.
Leitrim's new Garda Superintendent has been officially welcomed to the county at the latest meeting of the JPC which took place this morning.
He was appointed in December last but due to a serious leg injury, was unable to take up the role officially last week.
Addressing the meeting, he revealed that Garda figures for Leitrim comparing year on year statistics reveal that the number of drug searches taking place in the north-west has doubled in the last 12 months.
Over 300 drug searches have taken place so far this year - resulting in 98 detections for possession of narcotics - three for cultivation, and over twenty for sale and supply.
186 Covid fines were also issued in County Leitrim since the beginning of this year - 135 for movement of person and 49 for events.
Domestic violence incidents far this year are also up over 60% - 43 in the first quarter of 2020 and 71 so far in 2021.
Burglaries are down 55% from 33 to 15, thefts by 13%, and assaults causing harm down 50%.
Superintendent Grogan also highlighted a slight loss of Garda numbers in Leitrim at present compared to 2019 figures and claimed that efforts are ongoing by Chief Superintendent Aidan Glacken to bolster numbers in stations across the county.
