A new Government report reveals over 180 people were homeless across the Shannonside region in December of last year.
According to the Department of Housing 55 people were in temporary accommodation across Roscommon and Mayo last month the highest in the region.
In the Leitrim-Donegal area 51 people were homeless, a rise from 46 in the space of four weeks.
23 people were accessing accommodation in hotels and B&B's in Longford, the second lowest in the country.
Meanwhile, in Westmeath a total of 55 were homeless in the county last month.
A record 11,632 people are now living in emergency accommodation in Ireland.
Roughan McNamara from Focus Ireland says the figures are shocking:
'It's terrible to see that all the good work done during the pandemic when the numbers were reduced through cooperation with the State provision of housing.
To see that good work undone now as the figures have risen again every month for the last year.
What we need to remember is behind every number is a person and it is truly shocking that there are 3,500 children homeless in these figures.'
