Irish Water has allocated over 20 million euro for a major overhaul of Roscommon town's sewerage system.
The funding has been greenlit by Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O'Brien as part of the design and construction phase of the Roscommon town sewerage scheme.
The works include a major upgrade of the town's waste water network, the provision of new pumping stations and additional storage for storm water.
Local Senator Eugene Murphy says he's hopeful works will begin later this year.
