25 people are waiting to be admitted at the Emergency Department of Sligo University hospital this morning - just a day after a planned protest by nursing staff was postponed.
According to the trolley watch figures for today, the north-west hospital is the third busiest hospital in the country.
The HSE is to engage with staff and an independent review of some aspects of the hospital is to be carried out after nurses called off a planned lunchtime demonstration outside the hospital on Tuesday over-staffing and overcrowding concerns.
Elsewhere today, 15 people are waiting for a bed at Tullamore regional hospital, with just a handful of people in other hospitals in the region.
