Over 2,000 people across the Shannonside region have claimed the renters tax credit.
The credit was introduced in December last year to help with the rising cost of living
Renters Tax Credit is available to those who made rent payments in 2022 and who also paid income tax.
The amount of the credit is 20% of a person's rent payments in the year, up to a maximum credit of €500 for an individual and €1,000 for a couple.
Figures released for the Minister for Finance show that Roscommon has the highest amount of claimants in the region at 922, with the average amount of the person's claim totalling €594.
801 people have claimed so far in Longford with the average value of the tax credit working out at €601, the highest average in the region.
While in Leitrim, 456 claims have been made, with an average credit of €585.
Nationally, 154,273 couples and individuals have applied for the credit with the average value working out to €573.
