Over 2,100 people were recorded as being on trolleys or chairs at local hospital Emergency Departments last month.
The numbers of people waiting at the Sligo University hospital ED rose by 120 on the previous month.
Over 12,900 patients were without a bed in Irish hospitals in March according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Monthly TrolleyWatch figures.
Galway University Hospital was the third most overcrowded in the hospital last month with 1,048 patients waiting for treatment at the ED.
Sligo Hospital recorded a 20% increase in the number of people waiting on a trolley or chair at the facility in March at 648.
207 patients were left without a bed in Portiuncula in the past four weeks with a further 235 waiting on a chair or trolley at Mullingar Hospital.
Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore was the least overcrowded locally with just 11 people left without a bed last month.
The HSE's winter plan came to an end on Friday with the INMO stating just under 70,000 people were on trolleys during this 6 month period.
They say it's time for the HSE and Department of Health to devise a multi-annual plan as to how we tackle overcrowding. It is clear that it is no longer just a winter overcrowding crisis but a year-long one.
