Over 250 notices of terminations were served to tenants in the Shannonside region in quarter 2 of this year
According to the latest release from the Residential Tenancies Board, Westmeath had the highest number of notices given locally.
Notices of termination are issued by landlords when they wish to end a tenancy.
In order for a notice to be valid, it must be given in writing to the tenant and also given to the RTB, and must also state the reason for termination and the notice period before the property must be vacated.
The notice period depends on how long a tenant has been living in the property, with tenancies under 6 months long requiring a minimum of 90 days notice while tenancies over 8 years require 224 days notice.
According to the latest figures from the RTB, 264 notices were issued locally in quarter 2 of this year.
Westmeath recorded the highest number of these at 105, followed by Longford at 65.
47 Notices of Termination were issued in Roscommon and Leitrim up to June of this year.
Dublin had the highest number of tenants issued with notices at over 2,000.
Nationally, 5,735 notices of termination were provided to the RTB and to tenants in the second quarter of this year
