New government figures show over two thousand six hundred Ukrainian refugees are living in the Shannonside Northern Sound region at present.
According to the Irish Examiner, figures from the Department of Integration reveal Cavan is accommodating the highest number of displaced Ukrainians with 941 people living in the county.
This is followed by Leitrim with 820, 490 Ukrainian people in Roscommon, 216 in Monaghan and 215 in County Longford.
It's also reported that communities which accommodated significant numbers of Ukrainian refugees will be rewarded as part of a new €50m fund to improve public services and transport links which be announced in the coming weeks. The Department of Integration has confirmed the number of asylum seekers in each county who are seeking international protection in this region.
In Monaghan the figure is 420, in Cavan its 118 people, and in Leitrim it's 97 and 69 in Longford. Roscommon is the only county in Ireland which has no asylum seekers applying for international protection.
