Over 3,400 calls to the Free Legal Advice Clinic last year related to family law.
It makes up over a quarter of the total calls to FLAC in 2020, according to its annual report.
Of the calls to FLAC on family law matters last year, 38-and-a-half percent were related to divorce and separation.
Just over 28 percent of calls sought legal advice on Access and guardianship, with about 1 in 8 calls related to domestic violence.
However Information Line Co-ordinator - Erin Brogan - says only domestic violence and access were being heard in court due to the pandemic.
The restrictions on the courts services in relation to family law put a massive strain on couples looking to divorce, according to One Family.
CEO Karen Kiernan believes we'll see the lasting impact for years to come.
Overall, FLAC had over 12 thousand calls across all elements of law in 2020.
