Over 340 social housing offers across the Shannonside region have been refused since 2019.
Roscommon recorded the highest proportion of rejections locally at 143, this was followed by Longford at 133.
71 offers from Leitrim County Council were turned down in the last four years, one of the lowest in the country.
However, the number of refusals in the region has reduced year on year since 2019 with just 36 in 2022 compared to 92 four years ago.
Director of Advocacy at Focus Ireland, Mike Allen, says offers must reflect the needs of the applicant.
''The best way of reducing the number of houses turned down is not by punishing people but making sure the offer fully reflects what they said they needed in the first place. Often you find when the offer is turned down it's because something the family or household said right at the beginning was essential for them hadn't been taken into account when offered this particular unit.''
