Over 350 people are languishing on Roscommon County Council's social housing waiting list. New figures also show 87% of offers of council housing made in the county this year have been accepted. Details released under the Freedom of Information Act show 351 people are on the council's social housing waiting list, excluding transfers from other counties. It has been noticeable the vast majority of offers of council housing made this year have been accepted. 111 have been made and 91 have been accepted, with only 13 refused.

A breakdown by municipal district shows 49 offers have been made in Athlone and 46 have been accepted. 24 have been made in Boyle, with 22 accepted. There have been 38 offers in Roscommon, with 29 accepted. Of the 13 people who declined offers throughout the county, there were various reasons. They include 'children did not wish to move schools'; an apartment was offered instead of a house; and the accommodation was unsuitable for their needs. Another applicant was concerned about the location of the house in the estate, while medical and health reasons was another reason for refusal.
