Over 40 tons of litter has been removed by local volunteers in the Shannonside region as part of the National Spring Clean 2023.
This years anti litter campaign saw over 240 volunteers taking part across Leitrim, Roscommon, Westmeath and Longford.
'National Spring Clean' encourages Irish people from all walks of life to care for their local environment by taking action against litter.
The campaign sees clean-ups throughout the whole month of April to promote awareness of waste issues.
According to figures from An Taisce, 9 tons of rubbish were collected by 30 volunteers in Longford this April.
In Roscommon, 16 tons of rubbish were collected by 100 volunteers last month.
In Leitrim 40 volunteers removed 5 tons of litter, and Westmeath saw 70 community activists remove 10 tons.
This years initiative is operated by An Taisce in partnership with Local Authorities and supported by the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment.
