Over 400 hundred people received Covid tests at the pop-up centre in Athlone on Thursday.
The centre, located at the former St. Aloysius School, was opened to respond to an outbreak of Covid 19 in the town, which has been linked to the delta variant. According to the HSE, a total of 463 people were tested on its first day of three in operation.
The centre is open today and tomorrow from 10am until 4pm and it is advised that anyone who may have been in Athlone on June 11th and especially on the western side of the river socialising, to get a test.
HSE Chief Clinical Officer Colm Henry says a deep process of contact tracing is underway to limit possible exposure.
