Over 450,000 euros in funding has been allocated to a range of sports and physical activity measures across the Shannonside region.
The grants were awarded this week by Sport Ireland under the Dormant Accounts Funding with sports partnerships across the country benefitting.
Leitrim received the highest allocation locally at 193,000 euros this will include 45,000 euros for urban outdoor adventures and a further 28,000 euros for social inclusion disability projects.
An investment package of 168,750 euros has been granted to Longford Sports Partnership which includes 60,000 euros in core funding and almost 10,000 euros for youth leadership initiatives.
In Roscommon sport, inclusion disability projects are receiving 13,000 euros with a further 60,000 euros in core funding totalling 92,000 euros in funding for the county.
The investment hopes to encourage people in disadvantaged communities, people with a disability, women and girls to partake in sport.
