Over 50 people were waiting for a bed in hospitals across the Shannonside region this morning. According to the latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, 35 patients were on trolleys in emergency departments, with a further 17 in hospitals wards at Sligo University Hospital. Meanwhile, 9 people were waiting for a bed at Portiuncula Hospital, and 8 in Mullingar Regional Hospital.
University Hospital Limerick has the highest number of patients on trolleys in the country, with 89, followed by 57 in Cork University Hospital. Nationally, a total of 516 people were waiting for a bed across the country.
