There were over 5,000 people on the live register across the Shannonside region last month. The register is used to track the number of people registering for Jobseekers Benefit, Jobseekers Allowance or other entitlements. Longford had the highest number of people seeking employment benefits with 1,963.
Roscommon had the second highest with 1,899 while there were 1,556 in County Leitrim. Of the 5,418 people in the three countries on the Live Register in October, 635 were under the age of 25.
