Over 5,500 Garda intoxication checkpoints were conducted in the Shannonside Region last year.
The checkpoints monitor and test motorists to see if they are driving under the influence of drink or drugs.
Local Gardaí conducted over 14,600 breathalyser tests on motorists across the 12 months, with a further 2,444 checkpoints held so far this year.
The Longford Roscommon/Mayo division accounted for 9,500 tests, almost double the amount of breath tests administered than those in Sligo/Leitrim at 5,086.
New road side oral fluid tests were issued to members of the Garda Roads Policing Unit last year, with 109 swabs taken from motorists in Leitrim and Sligo compared to 81 in Longford and Roscommon.
Figures for the first 6 months of 2023 show 7,458 breathalysers and 132 oral fluid tests completed across the two Garda divisions so far.
