A total of 76 children across Roscommon are being homeschooled.
The figure was revealed recently by Minister for Education, Norma Foley.
Homeschooling remains a heavily debated topic among parents, with many arguing that children's regular attendance at school is the more sociable option.
The Irish Constitution, however, formally allows parents to choose the way in which their children receive their education.
