Over 700 drug driving tests carried out by local Gardaí at checkpoints this year

Over 700 drug driving tests have been carried at checkpoints by local Gardaí so far this year. The figure was revealed following a parliamentary question submitted by Kildare TD Catherine Martin. In her response to Deputy Martin, Justice Minister Helen McEntee cited Garda figures up to and including September 30th.

The Sligo-Leitrim Garda Division saw the highest number of checkpoints locally with a total of 468 Mandatory Intoxication Testing Checkpoints carried out. Meanwhile, there were 253 checkpoints in the Mayo/Roscommon/Longford Garda Division during the same period.
