Its being claimed thousand of home-owners are being forced to undergo costly renovations in order to install an energy saving smart electricity meter.
The ESB has been installing 1.4 million smart meters across the country as it updates its technology, however the Irish Independent reports over 7,000 people have had to make costly alterations to their homes to allow for the installation.
Meanwhile a further 35 thousand households due to have the technology installed, may have to go without the energy saving meters this winter.
