Over 8 million cans and bottles have been returned across the region during the first 12 months of the Deposit Return Scheme.
SuperValu and Centra have issued a breakdown of the number of containers recycled in their stores across the region.
Roscommon holds the highest number of returned cans and bottles in the region, at nearly 4.5 million.
This is followed by Longford, where over 2 million containers were brought to SuperValu and Centra's recycling hubs in the county.
Leitrim holds the lowest figure in the country at 1.3 million since the Green Party launched the initiative in February 2024.
The figures exclude the many containers recycled in countless other supermarkets and retailers locally.
