People from across Roscommon are being encouraged to offer their time and skills as National volunteering week continues.
The seven day event asks communities to come together to support each other with a particular emphasis on diversity and inclusion this year.Over 800 people in the county are registered as volunteers with the Roscommon centre and engagement manager Clodagh McNiff is paying special tribute to them this week for their work. She says their dedication and commitments transforms communities.
The centre is actively looking for volunteers in the county and a special pop up event will take place at the Market Square in Roscommon town this Friday between 10am and 1pm.
'We really recognise how volunteering can help transform our communities, make the community a more diverse and dynamic space, and there's a great sense of community around the county.
There's lots of different groups to get involved in, like the Tidy Towns, across the county they do great work, there are groups that work with older people , groups that work with young people, so there's lots of different things that people can get involved in.'
