Over 8,000 homes, farms and businesses in the Shannonside region remain without power this lunchtime. The ESB says a small number of customers may still be without electricity going into next week. Roscommon and Leitrim remain two of the most affected counties in the country with power outages also still being reported in Longford. Around 4,000 customers are without power this afternoon in Co. Roscommon. Some of the worst affected areas are in West Roscommon in the likes of Castlerea, Frenchpark, Ballaghaderreen and Ballinlough. North Roscommon also remains impacted this lunchtime with locations on the outskirts of Boyle Town still without power whilst Keadue and parts of Arigna are also affected.
3,500 homes and businesses in Co. Leitrim also remain without power today. Ballinamore, Mohill, Carrigallen and parts of Drumsna are some of the worst affected areas in the county, over 11 days on from Storm Éowyn. The situation in Co. Longford has improved over the weekend however there are still around 1,000 customers who remain without electricity. Ballinalee, Legan and parts of Mullinalaghta are some of the places in the county that remain impacted following the storm.
The ESB says "intensive work" is continuing to restore supply to the remaining 25 thousand customers across the country still without power. It says all available staff - supported by crews from Austria, Finland, France, the UK, Germany and Norway - are working to repair faults over the course of this week. Customers in the worst-affected areas may see their estimated restoration times on powercheck.ie change over the coming days.
