Over 9000 people are in receipt of Disability Allowance in the Shannonside Northern Sound region.
The Disability Allowance is a means-tested weekly allowance paid to people with a specified disability who are aged 16 or over and under the age of 66.
As of May of this year, County Cavan shows the highest number of claimants under the Disability Allowance scheme at 2,326, with County Roscommon a close second at 2,277.
The review reveals that there are 1918 applicants in County Longford, and 1731 in County Monaghan.
Leitrim is currently the county with the lowest amount of claimants of the Allowance nationally, at 1232.
By the end of May 2023, a total of 159,194 people were in receipt of the Disability Allowance in the country as a whole.
