Over 1 million has been secured for the upgrade of rural roads in the Shannonside region.
Minister Heather Humphreys announced a total funding of €12.5 million nationwide to improve road access to homes, farms and outdoor amenities.
The Local Improvement Scheme funding will support the upgrade of nonpublic roads that are not usually maintained by the local municipality.
In Roscommon, €400 thousand has been allocated, Leitrim is being given over 300 thousand and Longford has been given a similar amount.
A total of 3,700 roads have been funded for repair works since the scheme was reintroduced in 2017 after being haulted for five years.
