Over one-third of applications by small businesses in Longford for a special Covid support grant to assist with fixed costs have been refused to date.
Figures released to TD Joe Flaherty by Minister Robert Troy reveal that 99 applications were made for the Small Business Assistance Scheme for COVID in Longford.
however, 36 applications were refused, 29 applications have been paid, 2 have been approved and are due to be paid, 2 have been received.
In Westmeath, 104 applications have been received for the grant and of that figure to date, 57 applications have been paid
According to the minister, Refusals have occurred due to eligibility requirements, such as businesses not meeting the turnover criteria, incomplete application form, the business was in receipt of Covid restrictions support scheme or were not in a rateable premises.
Elsewhere, 36 businesses in County Leitrim have availed of the Covid Credit guarantee scheme and have drawn loans with a value of €1.45m.
