Over €1.5 million has been announced to make local roads more climate resistant.
The funding is part of a €17.3 million climate adaption investment programme, which will aid works to 432 roads projects across the country.
13 projects in Roscommon are to benefit from the scheme, with €754,000 set aside for it.
Leitrim County Council received €502,000 for 12 improvements.
Only three projects covered by the scheme in County Longford have a budget of €249,000.
Transport Minister Eamon Ryan says the funding will support local authorities in dealing with future challenges posed by climate change and severe weather events.
