Over €1.8m of funding has been announced for counties in the Shannonside region. The announcement was made today by the Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys with the funding earmarked for outdoor recreation projects. Leitrim received the highest amount in the region with close to €800,000 worth of funding for projects.
The Drumshanbo Narrow Gauge Trail is set to receive over €400,000 of the allocation for the Construction of a 960m trail linking the Dowra Road to the Church Road. County Roscommon has received close to €700,000 for two projects which includes a half a million development of an Outdoor Recreation Area in Donamon. Meanwhile, Longford has been allocated €400,000 in todays announcement with the Granard Lights project and the Moyne Amphitheatre and Legga Car park development both receiving €200,000 each.
