€16.6 million is being allocated to projects at Sligo University Hospital under the HSE's capital plan.
The strategy which was published this morning will progress and deliver a range of acute and community facilities across the region.
Key projects locally include an Emergency Department Extension at Portiuncula Hospital as well as additional bed capacity in Sligo Hospital.
The plan includes the Provision of two, 21 bed wards with single en suite rooms and ancillary accommodation at Sligo Hospital. This comes in at almost €2.7 million.
Carpark and associated enabling works to facilitate the provision of a new Ward Block has also been planned for.
€1 million has been allocated to the Northwest facility for an upgrade to its Central Sterile Supply Department.
The provision of a rehabilitation unit at Roscommon Hospital is included in the plan. It will be supported by the National Rehabilitation Hospital and is at design feasibility stage.
In Carrick-on-Shannon a number of developments at St Patrick's Hospital campus are mentioned including the €2.7 million Community Nursing Unit as well as 500,000 euro for the new build respite residence for young adults in Leitrim.
A commitment has been given for an extension of the Emergency Department at Portiuncula Hospital this is in addition to the 50 bed ward block that's currently under construction.
The HSE's Capital Plan commits to furthering the design feasibility of the Cancer Centre in University Hospital Galway.
At Mullingar Hospital there's a provision of one additional Operating Theatre adjacent to the existing three Operating
