The OPW has announced that €213,000 has been allocated for flood defences in a local village. The grant has been confirmed by local Fine Gael TD Frank Feighan and will see the funds benefit Leitrim Village. The funds have been ring fenced to construct a containment structure with a headwall and a removal weir on the Southwest side of the Keadue Road in the village.
According to Deputy Feighan the proposed works will help residents in the Cluain Óir Housing estate, who were previously affected by flooding, face future challenges. The local deputy paid tribute to the Senior Engineer, Shay O'Connor and his team at Leitrim County Council, as well as OPW Minister Patrick O'Donovan.
