Over €200,000 has been allocated to local animal welfare organisations as part of a multi-million euro government fund.
The grants were made as part of National Animal Welfare Day by the Department of Agriculture.
Longford based charity, Hungry Horse Outside received the highest regional allocation for a local charity, with €95,000 ring fenced for the organisation.
Several charities in Roscommon benefited from funding with Roscommon SPCA receiving €27,500, while the Fairygreen Community Animal Shelter and TNR South Roscommon receiving €11,000 and €4,000 respectively.
Leitrim Animal Welfare has netted €24,000, with Westmeath SPCA also getting €16,000.
The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, based in Longford, have received a separate sum of €688,000 towards their national operations.
