Over a quarter of a million euro has been spent on advertising by Leitrim County Council since the start of the pandemic.
New Figures released to Shannonside FM News under the Freedom of Information Act show a total of €255,626 spent from 2020 to June of this year.
The Covid-19 pandemic saw spending patterns in local authorities change in order to support new initiatives and lockdown services.
Many councils were required to increase funding in new advertising mediums to reach people during the pandemic.
Compared to Longford and Roscommon, Leitrim County Council has spent the least on advertising in the 2 and a half year period.
Newspaper advertising accounted for the highest percent of the spend overall, with €175,235 spent by the council since 2020.
Radio advertising made up 28 percent of the councils spending over the 2 and a half years, with €73,022 spent with Radio Stations.
Social Media and website adverts saw a year on year increase, with the advertising spending doubling between 2020 and 2021.
€7,369 was spent on social media and website adverts including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram in that period.
