€2.1 million has been allocated to projects throughout Leitrim under the Community Recognition Fund.
The grants are designed to support and reward communities that have welcomed families and citizens from Ukraine and other countries
€3 million euro in total has been awarded to groups and projects across the region under the scheme, with Leitrim receiving the highest amount locally.
€1 million euro has been allocated to the Shannonside Regional Multi-Sports Recreational Campus at Carrick-on-Shannon. This will facilitate phase one of the project which preparation works and pitch development.
€169,588 has been given to Drumshanbo Mayflower Community Centre for the restoration of basketball courts with a further 86,900 granted for renovation works. The Carrigallen Margaret of New Orleans Community Group has received €250,000 for the purchase of the community centre.
In Roscommon Ballaghadarreen has been awarded almost €270,000 which is divided amongst a 16 seater Community Bus to provide a local transport service, Outdoor exercise equipment and civil works at the community park, lighting of the Community Park walkway and the Refurbishment of Ballaghaderreen Boxing Club. €45,000 euro has been awarded to the Ballinagare community with 90,000 euro allocated for the retiling of Roscommon Swimming Pool. County Roscommon will benefit from a total of 690,000 euro.
22 groups from across Longford have received funding totaling €623,800. This includes 83,000 euro for Longford Athletics Club while 72,000 euro will be given to Longford County Council for a communal gig rig stage.
