Longford County Council has spent close to €313,000 in advertising in the last two and a half years.
Figures released to Shannonside FM news show the local authority spend €312,789 on radio, newspaper and social media adverts from 2021 to May of this year.
The pandemic saw local government bodies putting new priorities on public health messaging, new financial schemes and a move from in-person events to online.
Spending patterns over the two and a half years changed accordingly.
According to the figures, €218,400 has been spent by Longford County Council on advertising with local newspapers since 2020.
Newspaper advertising has seen major jumps year on year with €72,913 spent in 2020 compared to over €100,000 in 2021 and €45,000 spent in the first 5 months of this year.
Radio advertising saw the next biggest spend locally with the Council spending close to €30,000 in 2020 before increasing that to €43,500 last year and €12,000 so far this year for a total of €83,727.
Social media ads saw the smallest amount expended but also recorded the biggest increase when compared to other mediums.
€511 was allocated to social media spending in 2020, before being almost quadrupled to €1,736 in 2021 and over €8,300 so far in 2022.
