Over €370,000 earmarked for preservation of local historic buildings

The funding comes under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme, which is aiming to preserve and protect architectural heritage around the country.

Over €370,000 has been secured to support the reconstruction of historic buildings across the region.
The funding comes under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme, which is aiming to preserve and protect architectural heritage around the country.
A total of 27 historic buildings across the Shannonside region will be benefitting from the grant, which is mainly covering repair and restoration works.

Among the most notable buildings that will avail of the funding include the Old Barracks in Ardagh, Co. Longford, St. Mary's Church in Mohill, Co. Leitrim, and the Ballymoe Railway Station in Ballintubber, Co. Roscommon.
Longford TD Micheál Carrigy says the funding will help to revitalise our local towns and villages:
