Over €44,000 was spent on remedial works and pumping of waters at the endpoint of the Royal Canal in Longford last year.
Last October a breach in the canal occurred in the vicinity of Richmond Harbour in Clondra which resulted in a significant reduction in water levels between Locks 45 and 46.
Details released to Shannonside FM under Freedom of information reveal that a total of €32,768.46 was spent on remedial works on the Royal Canal at Clondra/Richmond Harbour in 2021
In August of last year, access to the harbour was also reduced due to a water pumping issue in the area and it has now been confirmed that €12, 253.26 was spent pumping of water at Harbour last year.
