Over €47 million has been earmarked for the repair and maintenance of road networks across the Shannonside region.
The funding was announced this morning as part of a national investment programme.
The money will go towards the ongoing renewal of regional and local roads.
A total of €22,990,000 has been earmarked for Co. Roscommon.
A part of the funding will go towards climate change adaptation and resilience works, as well as €510,500 for bridge rehabilitation around the county.
Among the prioritised safety improvement works is an investment of €30,000 for the enhancement of roads at Kiltrustan School.
Meanwhile a total of €14,476,650 has been secured for Co. Leitrim.
Among the most notable expenditure, €120,000 will go towards improvements along the Lough Rynn footpath, as well as €53,250 in road flooding infrastructure.
€10,259,100 was earmarked for projects around Co. Longford, of which €297,000 in climate change adaptation works.
While €200,000 will be invested in improvement works on the R392 Abbeyshrule Road Junction.
Overall, local communities will benefit from a total investment of €47,725,750 on road improvement works around the region.
