Over €600,000 has been secured for rural and community development across the Shannonside Northern Sound region. It comes as Ministers Humphreys and Joe O'Brien announced new capital funding to assist thousands of community groups around the country. The funding comes as part of the Local Enhancement Programme, which focuses on the disadvantaged areas of Ireland. A part of each allocation per county is also reserved for Women's Groups across the country.
Cavan is the county that received the most funding in the region, at €145,100, followed by Roscommon at a total of €134,852. Longford and Monaghan received over €134,000 respectively, while Leitrim is the county with the lowest allocated funding in the country, at €119,730. A total of €673,192 was earmarked for the Shannonside Northern Sound region. Nationally, €6 million has been allocated to ensure local priorities are identified and met, so as to improve and enhance community facilities for all.
