Overcrowding at three local hospital EDs today

There are a significant number of people waiting at local hospital emergency departments in the Shannonside region today.

Over 100 people are seeking admission to local hospitals - including 47 at University Hospital Galway.

Sligo University Hospital is also reporting a large number of people at its ED with 39 people waiting for a bed and Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe also has 18 people waiting at its ED.

The overcrowding crisis which affected Mullingar hospital last week appears to have abated with just seven people waiting at its ED.
