Fianna Fail's Paddy O'Rourke has been elected as the new Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council this afternoon.
At one of the first in-person council meetings held in 2021, Leitrim councillors gathered at the Bush Hotel in Carrick on Shannon today.
The Carrigallen man takes over in the role from outgoing Cathaoirleach Mary Bohan. Councillor O'Rourke was nominated for the role by Councillor Caillin Ellis.
This afternoon's meeting also saw Fianna Fail Councillor Paddy Farrell voted as Leas Cathoirleach following a proposal by Sean McGowan.
