A parent says it's hugely positive that full nursing support for the paediatric diabetes service at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar will return from next Monday. In a letter sent to parents yesterday, Professor Michael O'Grady who is the national clinical lead for paediatric diabetes described it as a positive day for the service in the hospital. The advanced nurse practitioner who was originally in the service will return and will be joined by a redeployed staff member as a clinical nurse manager.
Professor O’Grady also confirmed in the letter that they have been successful in securing approval for additional permanent staffing to ensure the long term future of the service.
