Parents in Longford are being asked to encourage their teenage sons and daughters to take advantage of a special tractor driving course next month.
The tractor driving safety awareness course is being hosted by Longford IFA on Monday the 8th of August.
The course takes place from half past nine in the morning to three in the afternoon.
The training is provided by Farm Relief Services at the premises of D and E McHugh on the Strokestown Road.
A fee is payable on the day and Longford IFA Chairman Gavin White says the course will be a valuable tool for the teenager, and even other family members who won't actually have attended…
"Teenagers tend to listen to others more than their parents at courses like these, so I think it should be encouraged by parents if they have somebody in that age group to do it. They'll pick up on other things that parents, uncles or whoever owns the farms, or aunts, whatever it is, might not be aware of themselves and the people at home that don't do the course will actually learn something from the teenagers that take part in the course."
