Passenger numbers at Ireland West Airport in Knock are down 75 per cent this year as a result of Covid-19.

In a statement, the airport has revealed that revenues are set to decline by over 11 million this year and that the workforce there has had be reduced by 25 per cent in response.

Staff there are working on a four day week basis since reopening on July 1st on foot of the Government Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme.

The last time passenger numbers were this low in Knock was almost 20 years ago in 2001.

It's expected the downturn in passenger numbers will also have a massive impact on the hospitality and tourism industries in the west and North West of Ireland.
