The number of passports issued in the Shannonside region doubled last year compared to 2021.
The boom in applications following the Covid Pandemic lockdowns saw long delays in the process of issuing the documents.
Over a two year period, close to 28,000 passports were issued to Irish Citizens across the region.
The Figures show the number of applications through the Passport Online service, which, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs, is responsible for over 90 percent of applications.
Roscommon recorded both the highest number of documents issued last year and the biggest increase on the previous year, with almost 9,000 citizens in the county receiving their passport in 2022.
That's compared to 4,223 successful applications in 2021.
5,468 passports were issued to Irish Citizens with an address in Longford, over double the 2021 level of 2,288.
Meanwhile in Leitrim, a total of 6,738 passports were sent to residents over the 2 years, 4,669 of which were issued last year.
Nationwide, 796,213 Irish Citizens were awarded passports in 2022, a major increase following the lower levels recorded during the Covid pandemic.
